From the inventor of guitar strings

Strings made by Ernie Ball - the proverbial icing on the cake for a powerful sound with plenty of sustain. Since the early 1960s, the US company has been making strings for almost every stringed instrument. This vast wealth of experience is clearly demonstrated in every product, and it is not by chance that Ernie Ball remains one of the market's leading manufacturers to this day. The product range has expanded immensely over the course of several decades and now includes many accessories such as effect pedals, cables, straps, and high-quality picks alongside the company's extensive selection of strings. However, Ernie Ball's core business is and remains the production of all manner of strings, which set standards in terms of sound, tuning stability, and durability - and the company is still based in Indio, California.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2223 Electric Guitar Strings

One of the classics

The 2223 Super Slinky strings are one of the most classic products in Ernie Ball's range and have been a top seller for decades, used by many international stars. The wound strings feature a hexagonal steel core beneath nickel-plated steel windings. The plain strings, on the other hand, are made from a specially hardened and tin-plated high-tensile carbon steel. With gauges of .009, .011, .016, .024, .032, und .042, the 2223 Super Slinky strings offer top-notch performance for lead guitarists in particular, and these strings excel with clean intonation along the entire length of the fingerboard as well as lastingly stable and reliable tuning as soon as you put them on.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2223 Electric Guitar Strings

Traditionally reliable

Thanks to its long playing life, loud and well-balanced sound, precise intonation, and high tuning stability, the 2223 Super Slinky string set is particularly recommended as a reliable companion for ambitious guitarists who want great playability, for example when playing solos, but still don't want to go without a powerful sound for chunky riffs and precise chord work. The combined power of over 50 years of experience in string development at Ernie Ball also makes the 2223 Super Slinky strings the first choice for electric guitars - and at a very fair price.

About Ernie Ball

The Ernie Ball company was named after its founder and has its headquarters in San Luis Opisbo, California. Being a guitarist himself, Ernie Ball knew their needs very well. A major problem for him in the 1950s and 1960s was the lack of high-quality guitar and bass strings. In 1962, Ernie Ball invented the “Slinky”, a very flexible and therefore much more comfortable string, which also sounded better and was more durable. He specifically brought individual string gauges onto the market for a young clientele and touring musicians. The company’s success was unstoppable, and today Ernie Ball is the world's largest manufacturer of guitar and bass strings. Over the years, the range has expanded and now includes accessories such as cables, picks, straps, etc. Ernie Ball is also known in connection with the instrument manufacturer Music Man, which the company bought in 1984, but which continues to operate as an independent brand.

From Funk to Metal

The Ernie Ball 2223 Super Slinky string set offers a rich, balanced sound that brings out the best in your electric guitar. The strings' precise intonation means that chords, riffs, and solos will always sound bright and clear anywhere on the fingerboard. In addition, these strings deliver excellent tuning stability as well as a direct tonal response, all of which will be helpful in getting your timing as precise as possible. Whether you are playing powerful high-gain riffs, crystal-clear clean parts, or expressive solos, the Ernie Ball 2223 Super Slinky strings offer the perfect balance between playing feel, durability, and a full sound.

Long Lasting and favouritte in this gauge type

I love the ddarrio because of the sound but they get rusty and lose the sound quality and brightness after 2 weeks... I ve tried many strings in last 10 years..

I must admit in this string gauge the ernie ball is my favourite and became a standart for me in every gauge. Like if i dont know which strings to buy or for certain my guitars I always grab ernie. You can totally count on this companies strings.

Yes, they dont have that brightness and tone that I love from ddarrio BUT! They sound like a ddarrio after 3 days of play and keep that sound for long! One month at least you will have that nice tone! And the strings are very high quality!

I recommend this strings to anyone and any genre !

My number 1 pick for guitar strings
Wedel.O 19.07.2023
I have bought the ernie ball 009 strings from the recommendation from my teacher, and it is truly one of the best sets of 009 strings that you can find!

The tone and playability from the string is amazing. First of all, these strings are so versatile that it can be basically used for any genre of songs. I play metal, where both distorted rhythm and lead sounds phenomenal, however using these strings on other genres such as jazz and ballads are also very great. Second of all, the feeling of the string is very smooth and comfortable. The strings are very easy to bend while keeping a very good tone, and my fingers don't hurt as much as others would.

If I had to choose a string to put on my brand new guitar, this would be by far my first pick, from the reasons mentioned above.

Cannot fault Ernie Balls
Recaster Guitar Workshop 06.08.2021
As a lone tech in my own workshop I will fit whatever strings my customer wants. But if they ask me, It's usually Ernie Balls I recommend. The range is extensive and the quality, at the price point is fantastic. I've yet to have an EB unwind at the ball end or snap at the tuner when installing theses strings. Once they're stretched in, they hold their tune for ages.

If you don't want to complicate yourself...
SZapatero 16.07.2018
These are the perfect strings if you just want the standard set, they don't have any corrosion protection but the tone is very good and I simply can't complain for the price. This set in particular would fit any fender Strat or Tele, as they were designed for this string caliber (0.09).

I've had this argument with many of my friends about getting a bit darker with time, and it's obvious that after one month the sound will degrade a bit, but I prefer to change my strings 3 times for less than 20 euros, and always have new strings, than to buy a single package of Elixir for the same price, that although they will last longer, they can't compete with a regular change of strings. If you complain that these strings are not so slippery as the protected ones, try with some conditioning oil for frets like 'Fast Fret', I use it every time I leave my guitar back in the case, it protects my strings and feel as nice as any other brand.

Overall, I've been using them for years and I've tried other brands too, but I would say that for this price range they're unbeatable, I'd recommend them to any musician from entry level to professional.
