Long Lasting and favouritte in this gauge type
Swords 12.12.2020
I love the ddarrio because of the sound but they get rusty and lose the sound quality and brightness after 2 weeks... I ve tried many strings in last 10 years..

I must admit in this string gauge the ernie ball is my favourite and became a standart for me in every gauge. Like if i dont know which strings to buy or for certain my guitars I always grab ernie. You can totally count on this companies strings.

Yes, they dont have that brightness and tone that I love from ddarrio BUT! They sound like a ddarrio after 3 days of play and keep that sound for long! One month at least you will have that nice tone! And the strings are very high quality!

I recommend this strings to anyone and any genre !

My number 1 pick for guitar strings
Wedel.O 19.07.2023
I have bought the ernie ball 009 strings from the recommendation from my teacher, and it is truly one of the best sets of 009 strings that you can find!

The tone and playability from the string is amazing. First of all, these strings are so versatile that it can be basically used for any genre of songs. I play metal, where both distorted rhythm and lead sounds phenomenal, however using these strings on other genres such as jazz and ballads are also very great. Second of all, the feeling of the string is very smooth and comfortable. The strings are very easy to bend while keeping a very good tone, and my fingers don't hurt as much as others would.

If I had to choose a string to put on my brand new guitar, this would be by far my first pick, from the reasons mentioned above.

Cannot fault Ernie Balls
Recaster Guitar Workshop 06.08.2021
As a lone tech in my own workshop I will fit whatever strings my customer wants. But if they ask me, It's usually Ernie Balls I recommend. The range is extensive and the quality, at the price point is fantastic. I've yet to have an EB unwind at the ball end or snap at the tuner when installing theses strings. Once they're stretched in, they hold their tune for ages.

seems to be the right gauge to me
Arnaud1975 28.04.2025
i am a beginner guitarist, and i must say i had a painful beginning with 10-46 strings. i guess that's the experience of every new guitarist... until the finger's skin get thicker. But in order to can keep playing without crying on every bend, i bought some 9-42 gauges and this set is still on my guitar after 5 months of playing on them. they feel comfortable to me (easier to play), i don't really notice a difference of tone (sustain seems ok... but i don't know...i hould have two guitars side by side and see the differences with a higher gauge).
They seem to be strong as well since i didn't break the high E string yet, and they apparently don't corrode too fast (i'm not picky may be but i don't see the nut yet to change them).
keep in mind that i'm a beginner guitarist, at the beginning of this journey into playing music, and that i might be less demanding and having less critics than someone playing gigs for 20 years.
i ordered again the same set as they were good to me but might break one day!

If you don't want to complicate yourself...
SZapatero 16.07.2018
These are the perfect strings if you just want the standard set, they don't have any corrosion protection but the tone is very good and I simply can't complain for the price. This set in particular would fit any fender Strat or Tele, as they were designed for this string caliber (0.09).

I've had this argument with many of my friends about getting a bit darker with time, and it's obvious that after one month the sound will degrade a bit, but I prefer to change my strings 3 times for less than 20 euros, and always have new strings, than to buy a single package of Elixir for the same price, that although they will last longer, they can't compete with a regular change of strings. If you complain that these strings are not so slippery as the protected ones, try with some conditioning oil for frets like 'Fast Fret', I use it every time I leave my guitar back in the case, it protects my strings and feel as nice as any other brand.

Overall, I've been using them for years and I've tried other brands too, but I would say that for this price range they're unbeatable, I'd recommend them to any musician from entry level to professional.

Pleasantly surprised!
Funeral Musician 28.02.2023
I usually use rather expensive flatwound strings, so I am far from an expert when it comes to roundwounds. However, even I could easily tell that these are excellent strings for the money.

My only gripe is that they needed some time to stretch out before they stayed in tune, but this may be normal with a set of thin-gauge roundwounds. I expected an improvement over the old and rusty set that came stock on my Harley Benton, but the difference was night and day! I could not believe how much better the guitar sounded with these strings.

Also, the tension feels pretty even, and they are a joy to bend on! Time will tell how well they hold up, but for now, I am more than happy with my purchase. Finally, one thing I especially like is that the packaging is hermetically sealed, so you do not have to worry about where and for how long you store them — they should never oxidize.

Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2223
Weepy Moyer 07.02.2025
These strings are a real dream for any guitarist! Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2223 is the perfect combination of quality, comfort and sound. From the very first minutes of the game, you realize that you are holding a product of the highest level in your hands. The strings are incredibly soft and comfortable for the fingers, which is especially important during long rehearsals or concerts. At the same time, they retain a bright, rich sound with a perfect balance of low, medium and high frequencies.

Separately, I would like to note that Ernie Ball Super Slinky 2223 is not just strings, it is part of the legend. They are used by many famous guitarists all over the world, and now I understand why. This is reliability, quality and unsurpassed sound in one package.

If you are looking for strings that will breathe new life into your guitar, then the Super Slinky 2223 is what you need. I am absolutely delighted and have already ordered spare kits for myself. Thank you, Ernie Ball, for such an amazing product!

Ernie's awesome, dude.
DonSchlup 06.12.2021
Amazingly affordable strings that never leave me wanting. Have these on my Jazzmaster and it just sounds great. Would love to be like the Edge and swap for new strings every day or so, because that feeling when you put up a new set is so cool, and they do go a bit dull after a month of constant use, but nothing that makes you wander where your money went.

And, to be fair, the packaging always makes me feel like a kid opening a bag of sweets for the first time. Happy times all around for this one.

Perfect in terms of tone, feel and durability
anglojaxon 21.02.2025
These strings are a solid choice for any guitarist and especially newcomers. They're light, manageable, and the tone they deliver is clear and punchy which is perfect for any style of playing.

They feel super smooth and easy to play, with just the right amount of tension. Being a guitarist of 15 years I've tried most brands and gauges and there's are my "standard" set. Bends are effortless especially when tuned a half step down and they’re great for long playing sessions. Plus, they hold up really well over time. Even after a lot of use, they retain their tone, which is a huge bonus.

A nice balance of comfort, sound, and durability. Always have a spare set in the guitar drawer.
