Mein persönlicher Anspruch an das Ridebecken war, es ancrashen zu können und dabei immer noch einen sehr definierten Ping zu haben. Diesem Anspruch ist das Becken mehr als gerecht geworden. Beim ancrashen spricht es fast exakt so schnell an, wie meine Crashes.

Der Sound insgesamt ist dunkel und auch gegen die gesamte Band sehr durchsetzungsfähig. Die Glocke ist etwas höher als Ping- und Crashsound. Letzterer klingt sehr hart und leicht schneidend. Wer 'The Paramour Sessions' von 'Papa Roach' kennt, der weiß, was ich meine.
Für härtere Gangarten bestens geeignet, kann dieses Becken jedoch auch sehr leise gespielt werden und entfaltet die gleichen Klangeigenschaften, wie beim harten Spiel.
Optisch ist das Raw Bell Ride natürlich ein Hingucker im positiven Sinne.
Der Preis lässt nach Luft schnappen, wird aber durch die beschriebenen Qualitäten definitiv wieder wett gemacht.

A ride with a distinctive personality

Very dry and clear, but nevertheless lively and responsive, it will find its place in any music genre you can think of, from the subtlest jazz to the most brutal metal. It has one of the most stunning looks that ever graced a cymbal: it resembles the surface of a planet that suffered a heavy and prolonged meteorite bombardment; the only part that was preserved from the intensive and irregular hammering is the bell, which was left completely raw (and displays variegated oxidation patterns) and emits a powerful sound, completely different from the sounds you get from the bow and that is able to cut through the most dense sound a band can generate.

Ich finds nicht so doll

Habe dieses Becken als Nachfolger für mein 20" Meinl Raker Medium Ride ausprobiert, das ich schon gefühlte 1000 Jahre besitze. Allerdings kommt es klanglich nicht auch nur annähernd an dieses heran. Für meine Bandkollegen klang es fürchtlich und es hat sich richtig aufgeschwungen was ein wahnsinnig ewig langes Sustain zur Folge hatte. Dabei hatte ich mir von dem Ding richtig viel versprochen. Für manche mags ok sein, für mich war?s ein Reinfall. Das einzig positive: es sieht richtig gut aus. Das wars dann aber auch schon.
