Dual Functionality Multi-purpose Mic

The Zoom SSH-6's big selling point is it's dual functionality.

The combination of shotgun mic and stereo "field" style mic is very handy, but it is difficult to maintain a good mix between the two input sources eh. The option to record in "MS Raw" mode is a life saver for this - it is possible to mix the amount of stereo mic compared to shotgun later in post production. The VST plugin to enable this function is downloadable from the Zoom website - perhaps this could be clearer.

I had to update the 1.1 firmware on my Zoom H6 to current version 2.0 to use this microphone.

The shotgun mic pickup pattern is perhaps a little wide compared to other popular shotgun mics, but for me its practicality vastly outweighs this. It's a great multi purpose mic with an excellent slimline design.

Great for Zoom H6!

This microphone is a great addition to Zoom H6 and provides it with probably the most practical solution to recording voice and other focused sounds.
The M/S functionality is an extremely useful feature for certain situations, but it can also be used as a mono shotgun if set to M/S Raw mode in the menu settings.
The build quality is good and I would say it's fairly priced.

This mic is an excellent companion to H6. Very good build quality and very decent sound considering its price.
As a shotgun it is a bit wider but still very convenient for broadcast purposes or recording close up.
The M/S feature is great. Best option is to record MS RAW and then decide later the wideness of the stereo field using the plugin from Zoom.
