Musicians' headphones from Zildjian
Headphones from the cymbal manufacturer Zildjian? The ALCHEM‑E Perfect Tune shows that this legendary company has a lot of experience and expertise to offer when it comes to modern monitoring solutions, too. As a comparatively lightweight set of headphones with excellent sound isolation and a secure fit, it's particularly well suited to drummers, understandably so considering its heritage. The over-ear, closed-back ear cups provide very strong isolation from external sound, further supported by a two-stage active noise cancelling function. Another feature that musicians in particular will appreciate is Zildjian's Perfect Tune sound customisation software: The frequency response of the drivers can be personalised using the app, with each side of the user's individual hearing profile analysed independently. The result is a precisely tailored sound that also makes the headphones a strong choice for everyday listening.
Great range, great frequency range
Inside the ear cups of the Zildjian ALCHEM‑E are dynamically driven 40mm drivers: They reproduce audio across a frequency range of 8Hz to 40kHz, covering both deep bass and very fine high-end detail. The maximum sound pressure level goes up to 94dB SPL. Wireless connectivity is handled via Bluetooth 5.3, with a range of up to 15 metres. For added flexibility, there's also an aux input for wired operation. Another practical feature is what Zildjian calls Play‑Along mode, actually part of the two-stage noise cancelling system: Here, some of the surrounding sound remains audible, allowing a backing track to be combined with the sound of the drums themselves. This is a clear advantage for drummers, and it will also benefits vocalists and so on, as their own timing and timbre remain directly audible.
Secure fit in every setting
The Zildjian ALCHEM‑E Perfect Tune isn't just for drummers and musicians on stage. In recording contexts, it also stands out thanks to its strong outward isolation, which helps minimise bleed even at higher playback levels. At the same time, its balanced and individually adjustable sound makes it well suited to everyday music listening. A rotary volume control integrated directly into the right ear cup adds to the ease of use. Further features such as active noise cancelling, call functionality, and the compact, foldable ear cup design all combine to make it a versatile companion for hi-fi listening, sports, and travel. The secure fit plays a key role here, ensuring the ALCHEM-E stays comfortably in place even if the music has the listener moving at speed.
About Zildjian
The Avedis Zildjian company is one of the world's oldest manufacturers of musical instruments. In addition to cymbals and gongs, the Zildjian range also includes drumsticks, percussion mallets, and accessories. The company's history dates back to 1618, when an Armenian, Avedis Zildjian, made his first cymbals from tin, copper, and silver near Constantinople. In the early 20th century, the company moved its headquarters to the United States, where a short time later the era of big bands and Swing music began. Zildjian worked closely with the most famous drummers of that era and over the decades earned an excellent reputation among Jazz drummers. Since Ringo Starr led the way more recently, Zildjian cymbals have also become increasingly popular among Rock drummers, and today the range includes cymbals for every conceivable genre, ranging from affordable entry-level cymbals to handmade models of the very highest quality.
Battery life for days
The Zildjian ALCHEM‑E Perfect Tune offers an battery life of up to 45 hours, even with active noise cancelling engaged. Combined with its impressive Bluetooth range, this makes it a reliable audio tool for stage use, studio work or travel. If the battery does run out, the headphones can still be used in wired mode, which provides an added level of reliability for live performances in particular. In terms of appearance, alongside the blue-and-silver Midnight version shown here, the headphones are also available in Sandstorm (creme and gold) and a classic black-and-gold finish. Replaceable padding on both the headband and ear cups makes maintenance straightforward and also ensures the headphones will stand up to heavy long-term use.
