Luxury bedroom amp 2.0
Ever since their debut, Yamaha's THR amps have won the hearts of many guitarists and bassists, which comes as no surprise considering their superb full stereo sounds and effects. Yamaha has reworked its successful range, which now features even better sound and improved usability. The THR30IIW on offer here benefits from these new features as well, and indeed could almost pass for a guitar workstation with its numerous amp models, six DSP effects, and 30W power output. In addition to its flexible sound, the redesigned amplifier offers plenty of additional features, such as USB connection, a Bluetooth function, a tuner, and connections for headphones, line-out, and aux-in. The optionally available app enables users to conveniently operate the THR30IIW with their smartphone or tablet.
The desired sound in no time
The tidy operating panel on the Yamaha THR30IIW Cream is easy to understand, even without studying the manual. The AMP knob is the centrepiece here: It pre-selects some features for the connected instrument, such as electric or acoustic guitar amps, or a suitable bass amplifier model – all of the above are ready for action with 21 different types and three amp modes each. A three-band EQ and a gain potentiometer are responsible for creating the sound before the signal is sent to the effects department, where it can be spiced up with high-quality stereo effects to suit any need. With the 30W power amp, the two 3.5" full-range speakers deliver enough power for rehearsals or jam sessions out in the open thanks to the built-in rechargeable battery, while the wireless receiver of the THR30IIW, when combined with an optionally available transmitter, eliminates the need for a jack cable.
Authentic sound
With its countless impressive amp sounds, its studio-quality effects range, and a clever selection of digital and analogue interfaces, the THR30IIW is the ideal flexible "sparring partner" for rehearsing as well as for direct recording or smaller sessions and gigs. The exclusive-looking, cream-coloured casing accommodates a fully-fledged guitar (or bass) amp, boasting a surprisingly high-quality sound full of lively dynamics thanks to Yamaha's "Virtual Circuit Modeling" technology, which is sure to find favour even among sound veterans. The proverbial icing on the cake are the six stereo effects, which show off their broad sound spectrum with help of the stereo power amp and the two speakers.
About Yamaha
For decades, Yamaha has been one of the world's best-known manufacturers of musical instruments and audio technology. The Japanese company's long history began at the end of the 19th century with the harmonium. The product range has constantly expanded since then, which has made Yamaha one of the few manufacturers today to offer almost the entire range of existing musical instruments: From upright and grand pianos to guitars, wind instruments, and bowed string instruments and from drums and percussion to electronic keyboards and synthesizers. Yamaha is also a major force in the field of audio engineering as a manufacturer of mixing consoles, amplifiers, PA systems, and more. Yamaha's guiding principle is to combine traditional craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technology.
Home-based guitar workstation
Whether players are using the THR30IIW for (wireless) practice or jam sessions in the living room, as a high-quality audio interface for studio recordings, or simply as a creative leisure outlet: This compact amplifier is ideal for all of these (and many more) situations, while providing a lush sound experience which clearly sets it apart from its competitors in many respects. The easily created sounds can be stored in five different slots, while the optionally available transmitter allows for completely wireless use of the THR30IIW, making it even more attractive for those looking to save time.
