That's a really good sounding pedal from mid overdrive sound to distortion.
In my case, I use a "transparent" overdrive as my "clean" sound and every time a need more (or a lot more) bite, I hit the Mudhoney.
I'm pretty much a person that uses affordable pedals, not boutique stuff, and I tried many of them and always not very satisfied. They sound good enough in some conditions and horrible in others. This was not the case with Mudhoney. No matter the guitar's pickups or amps, the sound is always great. I really dont feel the necessity to keep looking for a better one (at least not for now).
Basically, you are buying 2 pedals ... although they are identical, with the right configuration on each side you really have 2 different sounds to fit your necessity.
To my ears, It's a very low-mid-rage pedal, make you guitar sound fuller, thicker ... can be nice for some, not that nice for others. I'm playing with single coils, so I really like that thicker sound for special occasions. In any case, there's always a tone pot where this can be adjusted to your taste.
Just buy it and enjoy.
