I tend to think there should be a soft cover provided as part of the purchase for every bit of desk equipment, if only to mitigate dust and spillages.
The DP32SD (and 24) have a large surface area and multiple faders, knobs and dials, so some kind of cover is essential. But the unit is also compact enough to travel beyond the studio. So, a hard case also makes sense. In the studio, I keep it in the bottom part of the case, and cover it after use. It really couldn't be safer.
The Thon case is very well built. The DP32SD is a perfect fit. There is also a recess in the middle between the footwells for power supply and leads.
As for the cost, it's roughly half of the second hand price of a DP24/32, but cautious as I am over the cost of cosmetic accessories, I am really glad I bought this. If you get one, you'll agree it's the best protection there is for the unit, and in my view, an essential purchase.
