Tama 18" Club Jam Pancake Bass -HBK

It makes sense that this kick drum best suits low volume performances and small spaces, since the club jam series aims exactly to that kind of situation.
I personally changed the stock heads with a remo powerstroke 3 coated and a remo ambassador ebony with a hole and put a pillow in the drum. I got a pretty dead but direct sound.
To make a clear reference, I believe this drum is perfect if you want to achieve a kick drum sound similar to the one of nate smith with the fearless flyers.
I tried to tune it with the stock heads in a more jazzy type of tuning, but the 4” depth and the 18” diameter made it sound a little bit like a toy.
Very light, perfect drum for portability. The quality seems kinda nice, it justifies the price of the drum. One thing to keep in mind is that it slides a lot when you play it, so you may wanna prevent it by using cymbal’s or tom’s stands to block the kick drum legs.

Diese Art von Bassdrum kauft man vermutlich, weil man sie für einen "kleine Gig" in einer Wohnung oder so benötigt. So war es zumindest bei mir. Verwendet habe ich dann dafür aber doch nicht. Habe stattdessen noch schnell gebraucht ne bessere 18er Bassdrum gekauft. Warum? Mir klang sie nicht gut genug (dünn, pappig, zu wenig Bass) und auch zu leise.

Optisch sah das Material und die Ständer klasse aus. Das Sound aber nicht. Die beiden Holzspannreifen machten dabei den schlechtesten Eindruck - die Kanten waren nicht gerade und das Material wirkte weich, schief ... für den Zweck einfach nicht wertig genug.

Preis/Leistung sollte natürlich immer ein Argument sein - dafür muss aber auch eine Grundfunktionalität gegen sein, die ich hier nicht gesehen habe. Wie gesagt - mit brauchbaren Spannreifen vielleicht ... !?

Vielleicht hatte ich aber einfach auch nur eine Montagsmodel? Habe sie nicht zurückgeschickt, da ich erfolglos versucht hatte sie zu verbessern.
