J
Great little bass
JayTee3 05.06.2025
First up - this short scale bass is, to state the obvious, small, maybe an inch longer than, say, a telecaster. Overall it is a small instrument, the body is a lot smaller than eg a jazz or p bass(again closer to tele proportions) , the neck is slim and the weight is lower accordingly

The bass arrived well packaged and with no obvious issues at all, the setup was actually pretty good straight out the box (I lowered the action a little for preference). Frets all seem fine.

The controls are a bit of a mixed bag - the pickup selector switch is quite stiff , and especially so compared to the other two. The volume push/push boost is fine but the difference is subtle. There is a lot of options to find the sound you're looking for - the pickup selector adds some useful variations and the tone can help control the spanky top end (if thats what you want - I like it)

This is my first stingray so I dont have much to compare it to but the sound is exactly what i expected from reviews and the pickup is great, powerful and clear with lots of spanky upper mids(?) , and prone to growl especially if you push it with the series option and volume

Would recommend to anyone looking for a physically smaller instrument with full size features
