I picked up the UF1 to complement my UC1, and while it doesnβt have quite the same wow factor, itβs still a fantastic bit of kit that earns its place on the desk.
The build is exactly what youβd expect from SSLβsolid, weighty, and professional. The fader feels great, and the layout is clean and responsive. What I really appreciate is the visual feedback on the screen. Being able to see and control your sends directly from the surface is such a time-saver, especially when working quickly or jumping between tracks. It brings a level of DAW integration that you donβt get from most controllers in this price range.
While the UC1 still steals the show for me, the UF1 quietly does its job really wellβand that counts for a lot. It doesnβt try to be flashy, just efficient and well thought out. I find myself using it more than I expected, especially for writing automation and navigating sessions.
If youβre already in the SSL 360 ecosystem, the UF1 is a solid addition. No, it doesnβt feel quite as magical as the UC1, but itβs still incredibly usefulβand in typical SSL fashion, built like a tank. That screen showing your sends? Genuinely brilliant. I've been running them both with Studio One
