This is a fantastic cardioid condenser microphone, especially at this price point. The clarity is outstanding, with nice, brilliant highs, and it works beautifully not just for vocals but also for strings and other instruments. Just be aware that, unlike dynamic mics such as the famous Shure SM7B, room acoustics play a bigger role in how your recordings will sound. With a treated space, the results are excellent. No complaints—great mic and a great bundle.
Make sure you have an interface that can supply 48V Fantom power.
I'll add one more thing:
The one I got initially didn’t work properly, and since I had purchased my whole setup at the same time—mic, interface, and all the cables—I had no way to troubleshoot which part was the problem, as I didn’t have a second mic, interface, or spare cable on hand in those few months. After some back and forth with customer support (who were doing their best), I sent the mic back free of charge to have them inspect it. Some time later, Thomann sent me another one, and it worked perfectly right out of the box, and has continued to work flawlessly ever since.
This is to say: I was sent a faulty unit—something that can happen even with the best products—but Thomann made the process smooth and made things right as quickly as possible. I recommend this microphone 100%, and I recommend that, whatever it is you’re buying, you buy it from Thomann. I’m a loyal customer, and Thomann has earned that.
