I recently changed my drum heads from white Remo Emperor's to red Colortone heads, purely for the look. They do indeed look amazing, however the sound isn't quite as good as the white coated Emperor heads. The white coated heads have a warmer, richness of tone whereas the Colortone heads appear to have greater attack. I put them onto my Cambridge, Walnut and Sycamore, kit and they compliment the real wood finish beautifully, so I am compromising on the sound for the overall look. Either way, great heads, durable and value for money.
