The Skyntone skins are suitable for use on the snare drum in concert percussion and on normal drum sets
With minimal attack and controlled high frequencies, the Skyntones have a very warm sound even when used with steel snares
This makes them ideal for live gigs in concert halls where "normal" metal snares often sound too sharp and tinny
When used on drum sets with a higher tuning, the Skyntones offer a warm, controlled sound with an excellent surface for brushes

Good, but not for brushes.

Less is more. 31.08.2021

I recommend this Skytone head for drummers who like a vintage sound, or also a deeper sound, with less high frequencies and more bottom. But if you use jazz brushes, look further.

A few months later; same opinion. Aquarian Texture Coated are the best. 40 years of experience, one gig a week.

good for dub

Am using this product with sonor signature heavy bubinga rig and am finding with the 12 tom that its very good for dub/d&b/jungle as it has quite a fast decay. To add additional dampening am using the muffler that came with the hld81 snare. This head is a good piece of kit :D

Sonorité plutôt grave, avec une grosse dynamique. Uttilisé dans un set de percussion, fait un super boulot autant avec les mains, balais ou rods!

Ich spiele das Fell auf der Snare meines Sakae Pac-D Minidrumsets. Diese hat einen 12er Durchmesser, weshalb ich kein Ambassador Coated ordern konnte. Ich habe mich für Skyntone als Ersatz entschieden, und bin sowohl beim Stockspiel als auch mit Besen sehr zufrieden. Einsatzbereich ist bei mir Percussion und Jazz, seltener Latin und Funk.

Nach einmaligem sauberen Anziehen lässt sich das Fell schnell und variabel stimmen und hält gut die Stimmung, soweit alles bestens. Auch ist die Variabilität der ausprobierten Stimmungen nach meinem Eindruck gut.
Da ich kein Heavy-Drummer bin, ist auch die Abnutzung bisher nur wenig sichtbar, also auch hier Zufriedenheit.
