It works fine as long as you don't turn the gain knob whilst wearing headphones... there's such a loud crackling noise, literally louder than the instrument volume - it could well have damaged my ears.
It's normal to adjust settings whilst recording, and a little electric noise is fine, but it's simply not usable in a real recording situation.
Shame, as the overall recorded sound is actually pretty cool.

Just poorly made...

This unit felt very underwhelming to me. The compressor is extremely soft - which might be what some people want - but it doesn’t add much character. The EQ is fairly weak and didn’t make a noticeable impact in most situations. The tube stage also adds almost no saturation or color, so if you’re expecting warmth or analog character you will probably be disappointed.
Overall it sounded very clean but also a bit boring. For my use case I was hoping for more personality and punch from a hardware channel strip. I ended up returning it fairly quickly.
