Good quality but poor firmware
After working with NI support and engineering, it’s been confirmed that Soft 3 is the maximum sensitivity available and that no further calibration or scaling is currently possible.
For expressive playing styles, this results in a compressed velocity range that requires excessive force to reach musically useful dynamics. In practice, this makes the controller difficult to use without DAW-side workarounds — something many users try to avoid in a premium, tightly integrated controller.
I hope Native Instruments will consider expanding velocity curve flexibility in future firmware updates, as this would significantly improve playability and user experience for many musicians.
