MIDI doesn't work

Interface sounds OK to me. There are folks who dispute this and may have reasons for this. Can't say because my use-case is rather crude, regarding audio-in.
Getting the interface to run on a new MacBook, with having taken over the previous machine's backup, proved to be a nightmare, which was untangling the former MOTU's ... stuff. Their support was very helpful though, so ... Thumbs up for that. And mind ... part of this package is starting new machines from scratch. Hmm ...
However, after some time I finally realized that the MIDI functionality is basically non-existent. There are reports on this online. Seems to be an issue with getting the correct USB cable. Hmm ...
Don't know if I can rate such products all that well when there are whole hosts of hoops to jump through.
