Unbeatable for the budget oriented or beginner!
After decades of recording, I decided to get into the 500 world. Not knowing I would be crazy about the format in general, I looked and looked and 500 frames vary wildly in price (200€ to 2000€) - that's just crazy.
Frustrated after weeks of looking, pondering, I bought this unit thinking "well, at least if I do not like the format I won't lose a ton of money" I expected a piece of junk.
What I received was a very robust and attractive unit. I continue to be impressed with the quality of the unit and have not had an issue with it yet.
I have read other reviews of this unit and I know not everyone will have the same experience. This product is definitely "imported" - so consider that when purchasing. It was created to make a buck at a specific price point - and I look at it as a bit of a gamble. But the good thing is that if it doesn't work, you can send it back!
Though I must say I am please by it's quality and when I tun it on, I leave it on for hours and hours (sometimes overnight) and I have not had a moment's thought or worry of it's performance. I am using various modules from SSL, Elysia, and Warm. So I have placed a decent amount of trust into it at this point.
Pros:
* Super beefy and solid feeling
* After almost 1 year of regular use, it still running strong
* nice channel jumping/bus features
Cons:
* none to speak of, it's an import product at a super low price - expect to get what you pay for, but be pleasantly surprised at the overall quality!

My first 500 rack
I bought this rack to house my new Elysia xmax. My first impression of this rack is that it was very solid. Ruggedly built, sturdy rubber feet, strong handle.
The audio routing options are wonderful, giving a lot of flexibility.
My two small complaints about this unit are the following:
- the screws used to hold the 500 units in place are very small hex screws. Who has a hex screwdriver in their studio on a regular basis? Not me. I had to go buy one. These screws were also VERY tightly screwed in, so much that I had to use a pair of pliers on the screwdriver in order to be able to turn the screwdriver to loosen the screws.
My other small complaint is that the orange light that indicates the unit is powered up is very bright from the side angle. It can be slightly distracting.
Otherwise, this was a great unit to start my foray into 500 series modules and I'm looking forward to filling the rest of the slots.

Useful
Very handy and portable, the only downside is to use some slots, especially the first one. But it might as well just be me that struggled unnecessarily.
Anyways, very useful tool !

I didn’t expect a super perfect from such a price, but it could have been better, unfortunately it makes noise especially with preamps, if it’s not critical I can say that you can try it first.

Really not bad at all.
For the price this thing is fantastic. Does what it needs to do without the fuss.
