3 boxes & a sleeping bag

Mapex cherry bomb - Well, this beautiful wee snare was very well protected on its journey. 3 boxes and a sleeping bag to keep it cosy & safe.
Out of the box : a lovely looking snare. Not flashy or in your face. Just understated & pretty. And then turn it over to look inside , the cherry wood grain is beautiful.
A quick tune up (quite tight) and then left overnight to acclimatise to its new surroundings . The next day I checked that the tuning was even and then gave it a we batter. I always use sound rings and gel just to keep overtones under control. A wee batter and it produced a nice tone. Sharp but with an interesting & distinct woody note. Nice size at 13x5.5. . I haven’t used it for a gig yet but I think that it will work well as a general snare.

Un look vintage avec un son moderne !

L'ébénisterie est magnifique, le timbre qui a un réglage très fin répond parfaitement à tout type de sollicitation, très faible jusqu'à très forte.
Le son est chaud et claquant avec les Remo ambassador X sablées montées d'origine , très boisé mais pas trop. Les cercles rigides donnent des rims shots parfaits. Une très bonne caisse claire à tout faire !
