A fine tumba

This is a great drum, with a fine sound.

The finish on the rim is lousy, and it corroded after only about two years of light use, indoors. This is poor, considering the high price. I contacted Latin Percussion to get a replacement, but they were not interested in helping me. I shudder to think how much it would cost me to order one.

This corrosion does not affect the sound, of course.

Nach Jahren auf Fiberglas wollte ich mal eine Holz Conga. Die Entscheidung für die Galaxy Giovanni Congas war nicht besonders schwierig, da diese Congas einen ausgezeichneten Ruf haben ("Bester Sound in Sachen Holz-Congas").

Der Sound der Holz Congas ist wirklich anders als der Sound der Fiberglas Congas, je nach Geschmack findet man Holz besser oder eben Fiberglas. Auf jeden Fall ist die Verarbeitung dieser Congas Sensationell und der Sound dementsprechend Genial. Das Spezielle an dieser Conga ist bestimmt die hohe Lautstärke vom Bass bis zum Slap. Da bekanntlich Holz-Congas leiser sind als Fiberglas Congas, war ich überrascht von der Lautstärke und dem Glockenreinen Klang dieser Tumba/Conga. Werden die Congas gut behandelt werden Sie ein Lebenslanger und treuer begleiter sein. Sehr empfelenswert.

PS. Der Preis für das Set: Conga/Tumba auf Thomann.de ist wirklich Unschlagbar.

Jag använder galaxy congas som huvudinstrument för samba, rumba, salsa osv...

För det första så är de ju sjukt snygga!
Trumman är gjord i tjock stavlimmad ask, jag menar tjock, och hårdvaran tung robust stål. Alla delar ser ut och känns att kunna hålla i hundra år av idogt spelande. Du kommer bli stark av att kånka de här på gig... :P
Guldkromen försvinner hyfsat snabbt om en spelar mycket.
De har en djup ren ton som är lätt att anpassa efter musiken en spelar. Stämmer en dem lite varsamt så låter de jättefint både lågt och högt stämda. Väldigt bra allround och passar perfekt både till rumba, funk, pop och latin jazz.

Buffelskinnen är lite gropigare och har djupare textur än vad tjurskinn har. De är rejält tjocka och tar ett tag att spela in. Bra eller dåligt är subjektivt, men jag föredrar tjur.
Givet att trumman hade blivit dyrare då....

På det hela taget sett till pris, hantverkskvalitet, sound, utseende, väl värt pengarna! Av de trummor från de stora fabrikanterna som jag spelat på är nog detta mina favoriter och jag är otroligt nöjd med mitt par.
