SIRE T7 3TS defines simplicity and elegance
Great packaging and super fast delivery again Thomann - 10/10 - just 4 days from Thomann to rural Oz - amazing!
And what arrived was another beautifully finished guitar - not a fault to be seen
Slick satin neck, rolled fretboard edges, stainless frets that the hand glides over
So comfortable to hold with contoured waist and shoulder and neck joint
Gleaming chrome finish on the bridge plate, strap buttons, control plate, knobs and locking tuners
Brass saddles, through body strings and a low break angle from nut to tuners
And a big surprise having a push-pull tone pot that puts the pickups in series ala humbucker with significant extra gain (on the centre pickup position) - I didn't see that mentioned in any of the sales blurb or reviews
Now I don't like the black neck dots - inlay dots would have been much more attractive and classy - but I do like the subtle bullseye side dots
An attractive anodised aluminium scratch plate is provided (but not fitted) - the holes for the neck pickup screws were a bit small so a bit of filing (or drilling) was required - when fitted the sound was more present
The strings on mine were showing age spots and were a bit twangy (despite being carefully wrapped in wax paper - I assume to protect the frets) - I replaced them with a name brand set of 9-42's and took that opportunity to swap the scratch plates and fine tune the neck relief and intonation (which are already very close to perfect).
So to the sound:
- the neck pickup is clean and clear and would suit many genres for rhythm and for lead would even hold it's own in jazz
- the bridge pickup has the typical TL twang that fits anything from country to 'stones
- combined you get the sum of both pickups with great dynamic response and a real quack with staccato chordings
- and the best surprise when activated in series (via the push/pull tone pot) you get a significant boost in level for your starring moments
All this for how much? Should I say how little??
