HR
Semi-hollow with full sound
Hercules Robinson 29.08.2026
This is my 2nd Sire Larry Carlton guitar to keep my L7 company.
The good;
Super fast freight from Thomann as I've come to expect - just 5 days from Frankfurt to rural Oz and great packaging too - 10/10 for service.
Upon opening the box (double boxed) I found a very attractive guitar with high quality finish - really eye catching.
First pluck and the action is fast and low. The intonation was very good for straight out of the box with just a few saddle tweaks needed to get it close to perfect.
Beautiful sound from P90s - plenty of level and harmonically rich sound - especially full and deep in the bottom end.
The not so good;
The pickup selector switch toggle action is a bit loose (not the locknut, the switch itself) - the switch could be better quality to remedy this.
The 4th string is buzzing a bit on open & 1st fret - adjusting the relief a quarter turn for a little neck bow mostly removed this issue, however my fret rocker revealed that the 2nd fret is a bit high - I will let the guitar settle for a few weeks then do a little fret filing to level it. This is the first noteworthy issue I've encountered with a Sire product.
Tone pots deliver most of the tonal change at the first 20% of pot rotation - other reviews have noted this and suggest that a different spec cap would improve the spread - with this guitar being semi-hollow I'm going to live with it as upgrades through the f-holes are no fun.......
I can feel a few tiny fret edges as my hand slides up & down the neck (not really sharp but not perfect) so these will also get a touch of the file in a few weeks.
If Sire fitted stainless frets & locking tuners to this model that would be the icing on the cake imo.
Overall a lovely guitar for the price - the issues are minor and will be fixed at first service.

Très bonne guitare pour intermédiaire voir professionnel. Facile à jouer pour les groupes de musiques, sur scène, avec un très beau son.
