Nice silky strings
I am a Thomastik JF-344 fan, but wanted to try something else for my fretted Bass. These strings have low tension so very comfortable to play and the sound is very warm (deep) indeed. I was surprised by the overall results on this bass and will keep those going forward. Compared to steel strings this bass has now a completely different character. As the sound is darker en dryer I did also some recording tests and they succeeded in this situation as well. I did not have to change the setup of the bass due to the low tension but can imagine that this could happen for others. The low E and A are at the ball end thicker than standard steel strings so one has to push harder to get them properly set in the bridge. All in all I love them.

Black Magic Bass
These strings play so smooth and deep and still they are very articulate, and as a bonus they look so good on my bass with all black hardware! My new favorites, coming from TI flats...

THE Black Nylons.
It is to me, the best nylon strings. I used différents sets of LaBella nylons, and I'm Always really pleased with the feeling, the sound, the overall quality of their product. To my ears they deliver the best mute/brightness compromise of all nylon strings.
- thomann service: still unbelievably good. -

Best strings I have ever used
Until now I've been using simple round-wound steel strings. However, after hearing some really good reports of these I decided to give them a try.
I have the strings fitted to a fretted Maruszczyk Elwood X (Jazz style bass but with a MM humbucker at the bridge) and they just sound fantastic. The tone is deep and rich with plenty of body.
I play in a Prog-Rock/Metal band with two guitarists who tend to use very distorted sounds. These strings really help bring a deep bottom end to the sound while still cutting through the mix very well.
It is worth noting that the tension on these is quite a bit less than with the same gauge metal strings. As such, I did have to raise the action on my bass a little to avoid un-wanted fret buzz. However, they are a utter dream to play all the same. The lower tension took a little while to get used to, but in the end it means that I can play with a softer touch which in turn helps a lot with my speed.
Oh, and then there is the feel of the strings - so nice under the fingers. After using these I doubt that I will ever go back to any others. They might be a little more expensive that other strings but you really do get what you pay for.
