Ce qui caractérise les modèles Banner fabriqués entre 1942 et 1945, c’est la puissance et la clarté du son. Il fallait donc, non seulement retrouver l’apparence avec la finition V.O.S ( Vintage Original Sheen - Le vernis lustré d’origine ), les différents logo sur la tête de l’instrument, mais aussi, que lors de la prise en main, on soit assuré de la qualité sonore.
À l’inverse de la J-45 1942 Banner qui a le manche bien arrondi et légèrement en V, celui de la Southern Jumbo est en forme de large U aplati ce qui facilite le jeu de la main gauche, la touche étant large : 39 mm entre les deux cordes Mi et 45 mm dans sa totalité.
Dès que l’on joue un arpège au médiator, même en forçant le jeu, les notes restent propres et on ressent immédiatement la puissance sonore relayée par le palissandre.
Aux doigts, en fingerpicking, même en barrant avec l’index, toutes les cordes sonnent sans difficulté.
Le fond de caisse, barré tout en légèreté, de même que la table aux barrages scallopés, ajoutent à leur tour, cette puissance et clarté sonore.
Une belle réédition à un rapport qualité prix abordable.
