Unique and Versatile.
Andromeda I 08.02.2021
It's been almost 2 weeks that I'm playing this unique bass with my band.
It definitely is a one-of-a-kind instrument. It's basically a guitar on a octave lower OR a bass with 6 strings.
The pick up switches allow you to experiment with different kind of combinations. It can be Neck-Middle-Bridge, Neck solo, Middle solo, Bridge solo, Neck+middle, neck+bridge or middle+bridge.
It also has a bass strangle switch which cuts away the lower frequencies.
Quality of neck is actually really good, and apparently they fixed some issues that the Vintage Modified version had (first of all the tuning instability and bridge too loose).
They tried to fix it, but didn't accomplish it totally.
Strings (especially the Lowest E) are not the right ones. The lower E is too loose and causes too many annoying buzzes. So I swapped it with a .95 E and now it's tight and plays well.
They actually improved the bridge, even though it still wobbles a little tiny bit but you definitely can bear it.

Pick ups sound really good. Overall, built quality is very good.
Thomann delivered the pack in a week and a half which is impressive since we are living in pandemic times.

Recommended if you KNOW what to do with it.
Don't treat it like a common bass or just a modified guitar.
Recommended to those who like to experiment with new sounds and tones.

Great little curiousity and worth the price.
Bodymaster 06.07.2022
I had been playing guitar for over two decades, and bass for about a decade before I bought this item. Inspired, as I'm sure so many others were, seeing its big sister in the Beatles Get Back documentary by Peter Jackson.

This is a fun little toy. I won't deny it takes some getting used to. It's not a guitar, nor is it a bass. The best I could describe the feeling is like playing a guitar with bass strings, but even that is not fully accurate. I always play bass with my fingers, never a pick, and so the closeness of the strings means that you kind of have to adapt your playing a little bit.

Also, you can play chords on it, but again, it feels a little weird as a guitarist due to the thicker strings.

Where it really comes in to it's own is when you hybridise your playing style. I like to play it as a bass but with a pick at the lower end, then do chords up past the 12th fret. It really sounds great at both once you get used to the feel. Soloing feels lovely on it too.

The sound is quite good, there is a nice bit of versatility between the three pickups.

The tuning can feel a little finnicky and I did have to do a good bit of setting up of the bridge when it arrived as the intonation was way off. This was pretty straightforward however.

Overall this is a great instrument for the price, and I'm very happy that I bought one.

Good one from Squier!

Needs fatter strings and some setup to reach its full potential, but if you have basic knowledge of guitar and bass setup, you’ll be up and running in less than an hour. If you plan to buy one of these, buy a 1° neck shim and a set of jeavier strings while you’re at it!

Inspired by Get Back

As soon as I saw John Lennon using a Fender bass VI I had an overwhelming urge to get one. Didn't have the cash for an original but a Squier will do me. Quality of a Fender , and sounds brilliant.

KE
All about the bass.

As usual, my order arrived well packaged within a week of ordering. I discovered a deep scratch on the pickguard as I unpacked it. I contacted Thomann immediately and they sent me a return label. The courier picked it up the next day and I was notified when it arrived back to Thomann and as soon as the replacement was issued. So why all the stars in the review? The replacement one arrived in perfect condition. I play a lot of bass guitar and my usual bass is a custom made model so I didn’t expect a lot from what is comparatively a cheap guitar. I was delighted to find a well finished guitar. No marks anywhere and the neck is very nice, comfortable, smooth and no rough fret edges. I did the obligatory string change straight away and only needed a slight tweak to the truss rod to eliminate a buzz on the low e string. I bought the guitar for fun and to add to my Beatles guitar collection. I had no intention of gigging it and was content to buy the Squier rather than shell out way more for one that has Fender written on it. Now that I have it a few weeks I can’t wait to play it live! I’ve played Fretless only for the last 10 years and have promised myself a fretted bass for some time as a spare. I had intended to buy a higher end one but now I really don’t think I need to. This one is fun. It sounds and feels great. What more would anyone want from a bass?

Fantastic
dan5745 23.05.2025
I bought this bass 6 to cover modern metal notes and occasionally to cover the bass role. It excels at both, the sound is great for modern metal and it is acceptable for bass lines. What makes it even greater, I tried to learn bass for a few years but never succeded, but with the Bass VI I can play bass lines using my guitar skills / techniques, and it is great at that. Definitely a great instrument!
