While Elixir strings carry a higher price point, their extended lifespan and corrosion resistance make them a solid investment for routine practice and live performance. However, for critical studio tracking, I still prefer fresh uncoated strings—the protective coating slightly dampens high-frequency overtones and transient snap, whereas uncoated strings deliver maximum harmonic brightness and attack right out of the pack.
