Some acoustic guitars eat strings....or is it the hamfisted player who is stroking it too heavily?

Whichever it is now can carry on, because this player has discovered SINGLE strings from ELIXIR. For years I have enjoyed the zing of Elixir strings on all my acoustics, but when I bust one - usually the D or the G - it would mean stealing a new one from a new set or using another guitar. Now I've found single strings from Thomann, the pressure is off!

And as an Elixir post-script, I had a technical query about a 12string and emailed them direct - getting a response within hours and filling me in on a great deal of string information. So - five stars all round!

Nach Jahren habe ich mich entschlossen mir eine neue Dreadnought-Gitarre zu kaufen. Ich verwende an meinen alten Gitarren, 37 und 40 Jahre alt, eine traditionelle Saiten Marke. Nach dem Bespannen mit den traditionellen Saiten mußte ich feststellen, daß meine neue Gitarre nicht richtig klingt. Nach Rückfrage beim Hersteller wurde ich informiert, daß dessen Gitarren nur mit Elixir-Saite gut klingen. Beim Kauf der Elixir-Saiten mußte ich feststellen, da die gut 1,5 bis 2 mal so viel kosten wie meine alte Marke. Man hat mir versichert, daß die Elixir aber länger halten. Das kann ich in der Zwischenzeit aber in das Reich der Märchen verweisen. Die Elixir-Saiten reißen tadellos ab und manchmal schon nach sehr kurzem Gebrauch. Die E1, B2, G3, alle reißen sie. Jetzt eröffnete sich mir eine neues Problem. Die Elixir-Saiten werde im Osten Österreichs nicht einzeln verkauft. Man kann hierzulande nur einen ganzen Satz erstehen. Die Händler hier sagen man kann durchaus E1 und B2 von anderen Herstellern verwenden. Elixir hat mir auf dieses Frage mitgeteilt, daß der Klang nur bei einem vollständigen Elixir-Bespannung garantiert wird.
