Anyone who is looking for an active speaker suitable for smaller locations will find the Behringer Eurolive B212D, with its integrated Class D amplifier, a very satisfactory solution. Equipped as it is with a low-interference input section, this surprisingly lightweight loudspeaker delivers a powerful, high-fidelity sound - ideal for a microphone or line-in signal that the integrated DSP will further optimise for sound projection. Compared to the Behringer Eurolive B212XL full-range speaker, a product from the same series, the B212D is an active and generally more powerful speaker with a slightly more focused horizontal coverage, although both units are angled for use as monitor wedges. This speaker is also available in a bundle comprising two speakers and two stands.

Truly multifunctional

By combining a 12" woofer with a 1.35" aluminium tweeter, the Behringer Eurolive B212D produces an impressive sound pressure level (SPL) of 125dB. Thanks to its dispersion angle of 90° by 60° (vertical/horizontal), the speaker has good listener coverage even when installed close to the audience. It offers two alternative input connections, either via the XLR or the jack sockets, with the signal then being fed through a DSP with a dual band equaliser for optimum sound. The Behringer Eurolive B212D can be used in countless setups and settings, as it can be placed as a free-standing vertical unit, elevated on a speaker stand, or laid on its side as an angled monitor wedge. Weighing in at only 14.5kg (just under 32lbs) and equipped with two carrying handles integrated into the plastic housing, the speaker can also be transported and set up with the minimum of fuss.

More than just a flexible PA

Beginners, and indeed all live musicians looking for an uncomplicated way to fill smaller spaces with good quality sound, will enjoy the effortless handling of the Behringer Eurolive B212D. Its frequency response is designed both for voices (singing or spoken) and instruments, so solo artists playing in cafés and presenters speaking at trade fairs will be well served in equal measure. And should more channels be necessary, the B212D is happy to help, with its line-in effortlessly connected to the output of a mixing desk: This flexibility really comes to the fore in multifunction venues like youth clubs. For seated audiences, there will always be space for the Behringer Eurolive B212D somewhere on the edge of the stage, with installation on a speaker stand (sold separately) better suited to standing audiences. For bands wanting to monitor their own sound, the B212D can also be placed on its side, and to save space in the smallest of rooms – like bars or in home studios – the speaker can be attached to a wall with the bracket specially made for this unit.

Set in stone or rolling stone

For playing larger locations, or for stereo sound in general, a further B212D (available as a pair in a bundle with two stands) can also be connected to the original unit using the XLR output socket. To ensure that the bass is always at the right levels, the Behringer Eurolive B212D is equipped with a dedicated bass controller on the rear of the unit, and to really double down on the low-end, the speaker can be combined with a subwoofer suitable for the space in question. For permanent installation, Behringer also manufacture the WB212 wall bracket, and the water-resistant cover is a practical accessory for touring festivals or for venues where the clientele can get a little more excitable.

Great all rounder - a step up from my old PA.

A great all round active speaker for our guitar band playing bars and clubs.
This is the second B212D that I have bought from Thomann - the first one was purchased as a stage monitor for our old PA system. I was immediately impressed with the audio clarity, its light weight and most of all with the 550w power output. Almost straight away we started using the B212D in the rehearsal room and on smaller stages, leaving my old 600w PA at home. The B212D is so easy the transport! Even with just one speaker it handled vocals well and easily kept up with the bass and guitar amps on stage.
This second B212D has made our old passive speaker PA obsolete. Because we now have sufficient power to give us plenty of headroom in the bars and clubs we play; our vocal clarity is much better; both FOH and on stage.
The moulded cases are robust and just shrug off knocks and scrapes while the speakers are protected by decent grills. The only design criticism is the lack of protection for the rear volume/tone controls which stick out and look vulnerable . Although we have not had a problem yet, I'm going to get buy padded covers to give more protection during transport - but it would have been nice if the controls had been more deeply recessed.
All in all a great product, good audio design and excellent power to weight. If you have an old passive speaker PA, I'd recommend upgrading to a pair of active B212D's.

amazing little full range speaker, used for live bands as mains monitors side feed or disco, have plenty of bass which can be controlled and tweaked by knobs on back, have a warm yet powerful sound and plenty of volume, best keep level at around 12 o'clock to accept max level from mixing desk without peaking, roll the bass off a little when using as monitor as can be a little lively with respect to feedback, very robust and very tuff !! fearing the end after tumbling down a wooden staircase , suffering a couple of scuffs but no cracks or dents worked perfectly and has continued to do so, I have given a five star rating as for sheer performance for value cant be beaten, there may be crisper, cheaper, lighter models available but I can hold one and tuck the other under the same arm to open a door !! if you are the one carrying the P.A you will understand .they happily handle vocals and a few instruments as main speakers but do fluster a little with a bass guitar especially if you want to crank it .... get a sub its just common sense really . the grill is strong enough and has sustained a few dents in their travels and the rear knobs seem vulnerable but have never been broken just load with care and respect, they have been used as side fill as part of a 6K system and happily hold their own spot, they may not give the sound quality of a £600+ speaker but for a small band or useful utility speaker , that is both reliable and easy to handle they are hard to beat for the price

Very pleasantly surprised.

I could not believe the quality and punch from these. I bought 2 as backline for a keyboard playing piano, horns, organ, strings, clav and even electric guitar samples. The top end is very crisp, and the LF range is full without resorting to cheap boom eq tricks. I honestly didn't expect much from speakers so much smaller than the 450W cabs I was replacing, but they blew the old ones out the water. They don't shriek, I have never had them past half volume, and they remain clean and clear with plenty of headroom. They handle the dynamic ranges really well, and even at low signal and high output, there is no backgound noise - excellent SNR. Overall, very pleased with these, and even more so not to be breaking my back moving big cabs at the end of gigs. Great value for money and as usual, despatched with great efficiency and speed.

They do the job

I bought a single one of these to go with a much older example that I had bought used some time ago to use as a monitor. I wanted to have a quick to set up easy to carry PA for small events. I have a 4/5 box solution - these speakers, the bag with Gravity stands, a Behringer 2442 mixer (one effects unit built in) and optionally a subwoofer.
Like everything Behringer the power rating seems to be somewhat optimistic, but they are loud enough for what they are. There is a good range of EQ available, and having the bass turned up a bit certainly helps the overall tone, even if they are always sounding a little 'boxy'. They are also versatile in that they can easily be used as stage monitors. I rate the quality of these highly because my second unit was manufactured in 2012 and still sounds and looks exactly the same as the new one. I have to look closely to tell which is which. The amplifiers themselves are more than adequately noiseless.
In short, a perfect budget solution for smaller venues or stage monitoring. There are obviously much better sounding speakers at much higher prices. But if you are on a budget, don't hesitate, these will serve you well.
