A Reliable Partner for Every Show

As a sound engineer, I’ve tried countless plugin hosts, but LiveProfessor 2 really stands out. It feels stable and responsive even under pressure, and that’s exactly what you need when the lights go up. Setting up chains is quick, routing is flexible, and the CPU load stays low - so I can focus on mixing the performance instead of worrying about glitches. The sound comes through clean and full, giving me confidence that the audience hears exactly what I want them to. It may not have every feature under the sun, but what it does, it does exceptionally well. For me, that reliability is gold.

For my needs, this is a perfect tool to use for my live mixes.
A lot of gig I get a Midas M32 or X32 to mix on and to use FabFilter, Waves and other plug-ins on them, it's just amazing. Dynamic EQ-ing saves the day! :D

Toller PlugIn-Host im Live-Betrieb

Das erste Mal habe ich den Live Professor vor 12 Jahren an analogen Pulten eingesetzt. Über ein Motu-Interface konnte ich so meine VST-basierten Halleffekte (z.B. Lexicon 480) verwenden. Der Hostrechenknecht war natürlich noch lange nicht mit so viel Rechenleistung wie die heutigen Modelle gesegnet. Die angezeigte Round Trip-Latenz konnte aber einfach von dem beabsichtigten Pre-Delay abgezogen werden. An Anwendungen für insertierte Effekte, wie z.B. Kompressoren, war zu der Zeit mit meinem alten Dell Klapprechner nicht zu denken.

Jetzt wollte ich das Thema mal wieder aufgreifen.
Doch meine alte Registrierung wollte nicht mehr. Da ist wohl etwas zu lange her.

Aber heute: Ressourcen schonendes VST3, ein MacBook Pro mit M1, direkt angeschlossen über USB an eine Allen&Heath SQ 5, je eine Instanz Lexicon PCM Bundle und UA´s 1176 "Original Software Klon" in Stereo bei 48 oder 96 kHz liefen selbst bei kleinster Puffer-Einstellung problemlos bei einer Round Trip-Latenz von etwas über 1 ms. Das wird ein langer Nachmittag an meiner SQ 6 mit Dante-Karte werden, um mal richtig auszutesten, was (mit noch vertretbarer Latenz) geht.

Und natürlich hat die Konkurrenz mit ihren extra Servern die Nase weiter vorn, aber nicht zu dem Preis. Und einen Steuerrechner braucht man eh.

Ich habe mir auch eine Testversion vom Waves Super Rack Performer installiert, um beide zu vergleichen und mich für den Kauf einer Software zu entscheiden. Zumal Waves diese Host-Software auch für Drittanbieter geöffnet hat. Preislich sind sie ja fast gleich. Aber die Super-Rack-Oberfläche und -Bedienung waren noch nie meins, habe ich mal wieder gemerkt...
