Where to begin!
I bought a Hydrasynth 49 key when it first came available from Thomann.
What attracted me was the polyphonic aftertouch and the ribbon combined with YouTube Videos initially.
But it’s the tone that really delivers.
On paper a synth can every synthesis known to man but when you hear it in person it doesn’t live up to the hype.
The Hydrasynth does.
A newcomer to the market but with an experienced leader of the team Glen Darcey .
They didn’t announce it a year beforehand. It was available immediately. With great videos to help programming.
My only complaint were the 49 keys but on getting it I didn’t find it a hindrance.
The build quality and the sound didn’t disappoint.
Then the Deluxe was announced.
Two Hydrasynths in one with a 6 octave keyboard.
Bought it and sold my 49 key. I would have kept it if I could have afforded to.
Polyphonic aftertouch has an absolutely beautiful action on it.
The ribbon doesn’t extend the full length of the keyboard.
But it’s 26” long.
The ribbon on my Andromeda is only 20”!
The build is faultless. It exudes class.
No wobbly knobs.
A logical lay out so easy so see how everything works.
Great sounds to be got out of it and extensive modulation options.
But again I come back to the tone of the keyboard.
It stands up against my Andromeda and my warmest digital synth a Roland JD990.
I can’t recommend it highly enough.
Finally a word about Thomann and my dealings with them.
I’ve dealt with them for a good few years and always found their prices the best around.
But it’s their customer service is first class.
I’ve returned gear because I didn’t take to it and there’s no delay on refunds and the communication is always prompt and friendly.
So rock on Thomann and long live the king . The Hydrasynth Deluxe.

Trust me not buying one is madness. It can do any sound you could imagine in a million years, wow. The long 73 keybed is a hod send and the touch strip is an absolute joy to use. BUY ONE IT WILL BE THE BEST STUDIO INVESTMENT YOU WILL EVER MAKE. TRUELY EPIC SYNTH.

Amazing workflow
Ninecows 14.11.2022
I have heard others describe this as cold/sterile. To me that’s very subjective. I find it extremely versatile and it can be both warm, gritty and clean. To my ears it can sound just as analog as anything.
The best part however is the workflow and very limited need for menu diving. 95% of all settings are no more than 1-2 clicks away. It is extremely easy to get started and instantly find yourself deep into the rabbit hole of exploring new sounds.
The poly aftertouch is great but expect to spend some time adjusting the response of it to your fingers and liking. There are plenty of tweaking options for this, but don’t expect a natural feel out of the box.
