Feature-packed controller, build quality could be better
I use the KeyLab Essential 61 Mk3 alongside Analog Lab and my audio interface, and for the price it offers a lot. Integration with Analog Lab is excellent: presets, knobs and faders map instantly, so you can start shaping sounds right away without menu diving. The pads, chord and scale modes, and the arpeggiator are great for sketching ideas, and DAW control works well. The white finish also looks very nice in a home setup.
The weak point is build quality. The chassis and keys feel quite plasticky, and the synth-action keybed is light, so pianists shouldn’t expect any weight or expressiveness from it. Fine for synths and production, less so for piano playing.
Overall: a very capable and well-integrated controller for synths and production at a fair price. Just don’t expect premium build.
