Tight and precise 5" monitors
I use these for quick and easy audio playback next to my PC monitor, from the Focusrite 2i2 into a small mixer and split out to these and my Adam T8Vs.
Pros - really nice top end, great clarity, and a better soundstage than I was expecting from how they sit in the environment (quite close to back wall). Excellent build quality and enough adjustability with bass and treble switches for room control. Looks are also a plus point.
Cons - not really a big negative as it's built into their design, but the 5" driver low end does ramp off quite quickly - so for bass I'm checking the Adams and my headphones. But that is not a fault or flaw of the Yamahas, as they do their job exactly as intended.
Would recommend.

Possibly the clearest sound, but you might need a subwoofer
Inside a plywood + acoustic foam booth, they sound fairly balanced across the frequency spectre and have more clarity (especially in the mids and highs) than many studio headphones, which is no small feat for speakers. However, you can go slightly 'blind' when mixing when it comes to the low end. It's there, but its representation against the rest of the spectrum can be misleadingly low. If you want a great listening experience with a natural and crystalline frequency response, they're fantastic, but if you want to make sure everyday customer speakers don't get your mid-lows messy, this may not help you. I can imagine the combination of this pair with a subwoofer solves the problem and renders you possibly the best value professional set-up. Final note: they have a quiet hiss, but it may not be in the way unless you're in an incredibly dry and quiet environment.

Perfect size for a simple desktop DAW recording system
I'm just doing simple stuff at home with garageband and guitar vocals, these are small enough to fit simply on your desktop and great for getting good tracks and checking first mix etc. I just set them on standard settings through my Scarlett, they are very functional and even a bit stylish (though not that pretty)

Fantastic but...
Superb studio monitors, as uesd by Finneas McConnell. But for extra bottom end realism he did, like me, upgrade to the bigger HS8's. Same clarity and reliable accuracy - but bigger bass end

Great Mixing & Production monitors
Highly recommended, somewhat reminiscent of the old ns-10 sound signature (specially on drums) these are great sounding monitors, simple, revealing and help you get translatable results.
Bass is quite on the rolled off side but what is present is accurate - so you may consider subs or any other way of listening to lows but again this sound signature is what makes them useful IMO.

Great little speakers
I love them in the studio, producing mixing mastering... not easy but if you learn them you can get good results.

Precision
What you hear is precision and clarity of the sound. You can hear details and the matched pair really worth it.
