T
Excellent, better than the presentation on the page
Tiziano 15.12.2017
Bought this bowl for Ambient recording project.

PROS:
The sound is really wide and "round", much longer sustain than the one presented into the page. I measured it and it goes beyond 1 minute!

CONS:
The cushion support is the weak item.
When you decide to make this bowl "singing" you have not to use the cushion support, but you have to hold it, on the palm of your hand, which is quite cumbersome, when you have to use it into recordings, with multiple bowls

The overtones on this particular gong has a clash, the tones clash within the one bowl. So it does not work well with itself or other bowls together except if you want a binaural sound. Though I tried that and could still hear the discord. But Thomann’s were great at resolving the issue when I approached them. Will buy another instead and of a different size, the note was a shaky D - a bigger bowl most likely will have another note.

I was surprised too of its colour - a more copper red. It doesn’t match my other bowls colour wise, but I probably would have kept it if it had a clear tone and overtones that were in harmony with each other. Important to stay positive and keep learning from one’s experience, so thanks Thomann. x

I love this bowl, I use it in my sound bath where I play alchemy & quartz bowls, it’s the perfect addition to add dimension to the class. I use a silicone mallet to play which give a softer sound.
