The Thomann KB-47 piano bench is an affordable mid-range model with a classic design and straight, tapering legs, in addition to which it is also height-adjustable, a feature not always found at this price point. Unlike the extra-high KB-57, this model's seat height falls within the usual range, and compared to a swivel stool, the bench provides a larger surface and ensures a consistent playing position. The breathable fabric seat cover, also available on the two-seater KB-247, makes long sessions comfortable, while the slightly larger velour seat and more elaborate lifting mechanism provide greater support and adjustability than the budget KB-15 model. The matt black finish of the KB-47BM suits pianos or silver-coloured keyboards, resisting dirt, blending seamlessly with the interior, avoiding unwanted reflections under stage lights, and complementing any outfit.

Sturdy and well-built

With the Thomann KB-47, players sit on real solid wood, and the rectangular seat, measuring 520 x 300mm, can be adjusted steplessly in height between 47.5 and 56cm. The high-quality black velour seat cushion is set into a sturdy wooden frame, while the dual cross precision lifting mechanism, positioned far out on the base, provides excellent stability and is securely screwed to the frame and seat at multiple points, supported by metal plates. Assembly is simple: After unpacking, the legs are attached using the included tools, and the bench weighs in at 8.75kg.

A comfortable and sturdy piano stool

Very happy with the quality of this. The seat is quite comfy in comparison to other piano stools I have used. The up and down mechanism is easy to use and the stool is very easy to assemble overall.

I haven't had any issues with it creaking (it feels very sturdy), but generally this is easy to resolve by just retightening the screws, as they may come loose over time.

There are also foam protectors on the bottom of the legs to prevent scratches on hard floors - which isn't apparent from the images or product description.

Comfy and easy to adjust. Also looks good, but it does squeak a little, so if you are recording with a microphone, you will hear it.

Surprisingly good and easy to maintain

Product arrived and was well packaged. All the woden parts were wrapped in some way to stop them getting messed up during transport.

Assembly was easy and I had it assembled in a couple of minutes.

Once assembled the stool feels solid and secure. The hight adjustment gives fine control and doesn't change over time unexpectedly.

I feel secure and well grounded while sitting on the stool and I can spend long sessions at the piano without feeling fatigued.

I think it looks very well, it isn't overly stylised, I imagine it would blend into most spaces without making too much of a statement.

A note to my fellow hobbyist, If you're using a kitchen or office chair I would recommend you do yourself a favour and consider this stool. A dedicated stool for your piano or keyboard will help you learn more quickly as your hight and subsequently the angle of your arms shoulders will be consistent each time you sit down to play helping to form muscle memory.

A note for Parents: the top part which has the cushion and fabric is secured firmly with friction but for an adult it's easy to remove. So when the kids eventually decide the piano stool is a great place to eat toast you'll be able to clean it relatively easily. You could very easily staple or glue on a new piece of fabric.
