About Shure
The American company Shure began developing microphones during the early 1930s and is one of the pioneers of the audio engineering sector. Models such as the 55 Unidyne – known to many as the "Elvis microphone" – and the SM57 and SM58 which appeared in the mid-1960s are still ubiquitous in live sound production today. Shure's patented Revonic Dual-Engine transducer technology combines two precisely matched transducers in the same body – one facing the source, one facing backward and phase-inverted. Acoustically coupled with matched responses, the two transducers work together so that mechanical noise, stage rumble, and low-frequency interference are suppressed through phase cancellation, while the desired acoustic signal is preserved and reinforced. The mic's internal geometry further contributes to off-axis rejection of mid and high frequencies entering the rear transducer's vents, and the presence boost characteristic of the Nexadyne series is achieved acoustically rather than electrically – with no EQ circuitry involved.
