I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with this unit has been very disappointing so far.
I purchased a brand-new Sequential Pro 3. Within a short time, the device began producing very loud white noise (30db) whenever it was powered via the supplied power brick. The noise goes directly into my audio interface and makes the synthesizer unusable in a studio environment.
I returned the unit for repair through Thomann. The repair report stated:
“Temporary short circuit on motherboard fixed, test run passed.”
However, approximately one week after receiving the instrument back, the exact same issue returned. I am now sending the unit in for repair for the second time.
To rule out external causes, I tested:
- multiple cables,
- an isolated power source,
- and different audio inputs.
None of my other synthesizers (around ten units in the same studio setup) show any grounding or noise issues, which strongly suggests the problem is internal to this specific device.
At this price point (around €2,000), I expected long-term reliability. Instead, I have spent more time arranging repairs than actually using the instrument. I hope this second repair resolves the issue permanently, but the recurrence after the first repair is concerning.
My intention with this review is not primarily to criticize Thomann’s support - the staff have generally been helpful. However, the process has been slow, and communication has been difficult, as I often had to restart my explanation with different representatives and without a clear case history. My goal is simply to highlight a serious reliability issue with this particular unit so that a durable solution can hopefully be reached.
At this stage, Thomann has declined to exchange the unit, which would have provided significant reassurance. As a result, I am left with uncertainty, and the repair process will likely take another month to six weeks. This effectively means being unable to use the product for nearly six months since purchase, which is critical for me.
I will of course update or revise this review if a permanent and satisfactory solution is reached.
