I'm not a pro balalaika player, but these seemed to do the job and definately sounded better than the old strings.

Good set, but the nylon strings are open ended
JussiSs 15.09.2025
This set fit well into my CCCP Balalaika (with some opening of nut and bridge notches as nylon strings are 1mm thick) and the sound is fun to play with nylon-nylon-steel combo.
However, you need to take into account that the nylon strings do NOT have a loop end for the tailpiece, so you need to use some ingenuity to make a good and lasting fastening there. I used hama beads I snatched from my kids to provide a lock-in since (at least my!) balalaika tailpiece has mandolin-like screws/pins where you need a loop-ended string to get it working. 🪛
So if you're handy with strings and pins, these will breathe life to your souvenir MOCKBA-80 instrument hanging on your wall! 🎶
But I can't but wonder whether I'd saved ~4 euros if I'd just bought one mandolin A-string and two classical guitar high-E strings... 🤔😅

Very poor quality strings
Czyszy 04.12.2017
No loop end on the nylon strings plus they break off when tuned to the suggested pitch (on a Prim balalaika).
