Nice pedal overall

It is a quality made pedal. As the other ones that I had from MXR, very well built. Tone wise, it is different from previous signature versions of Yngwie. Compared to my DOD YJM308 and Fender's version, it is slightly darker and a bit muddier. At the minimum gain level clipping still can be heard with medium to higher output pickups. Unfortunately, this version still has some amount of hiss which gets quite loud with a cranked plexi.

I was using a jhs pre amp overdrive I purchased from thomann which was a brilliant pedal for me I'm neo classical playing a 70s strat with a yjm seymour duncan loaded picklguard I also purchased here ok thomann but then this pedal has brought it to the next level very sharp clean high gain pedal perfect for me

Un cran en dessous de la version Fender .

Ayant déjà l' OD Malmsteen Fender , j'ai acheté cette version MXR en pensant qu'elle serait meilleure ... Et bien non !
Cette version MXR est plus bruyante : le souffle est très présent .
Les hauts médiums et les aigus sont plus prononcés sur la MXR Malmsteen .
Par contre le rendu en basses bloquées est plus précis que sur l' OD Fender Malmsteen .
Bien sûr, le rendu sonore global est dans la veine de l'OD DOD originel , celui que Malmsteen utilisait avant ses modèles signature.
A noter qu'il est inutile de tout mettre à fond : avec un ampli déjà saturé ( un JCM 2000 50 watts sur Lead 1 pour moi ) , le level et le gain à moitié sur l'OD MXR , le son est typique Malmsteen , avec beaucoup moins de souffle .
Au final , une bonne OD Malmsteen , mais en comparant côte à côte avec l' OD Fender Malmsteen : moins de souffle pour l' OD Fender , plus d'agressivité dans les hauts médiums et aigus pour la MXR , ce qui peut vite être fatiguant à l'écoute.
Je préfère clairement l ' OD Fender .
