Compact PA, serious output

The Mackie Thump 212 is the all-rounder in the second generation of the Thump series, combining a lightweight cabinet with a 1400W Class D amplifier capable of producing high output levels up to 128dB SPL. Built around a powerful 12" woofer and a 1" compression driver, it delivers a balanced, full-range sound suitable for sound reinforcement in a huge range of spaces. The 212, has been designed with flexibility in mind, with core features including a built-in 2-channel mixer with XLR/TRS inputs and a 3.5mm auxiliary input. Channel 1 accepts mic and line signals, while Channel 2 supports line-level sources as well as the mini-jack input, allowing microphones, instruments, and playback devices to be connected directly. A Thru output allows the mixed signal of both channels to be passed on to additional speakers, a straightforward and flexible solution for scaling sound systems with minimal effort.

Flexible design & deployment

The Mackie Thump 212 prioritises durability, portability, and ease of use. Its lightweight moulded cabinet (13.2kg), constructed from robust synthetic material, helps reduce weight while maintaining the reliabilty required for regular transport and setup. Its integrated handles facilitate positioning, and the overall design is well suited to both mobile use and fixed installations. A standard pole-mount socket allows the speaker to be mounted on stands, while the dual-angled cabinet can be placed horizontally to function as a floor monitor. Covering a frequency range from 47Hz to 23kHz, it delivers a powerful full-range sound with genuine low-end presence for music playback and live bands, while maintaining clarity for vocals and speech. It can also be paired with a matching Mackie Thump subwoofer when sub-bass extension is required.

Where it fits

The Thump 212 is well suited to bands, DJs, and venues looking for a compact and modular PA solution. Its integrated mixer and straightforward control layout make it particularly useful in setups where additional equipment is limited or where quick deployment is essential, with enough power even in single-speaker configurations. In practice, it handles a wide range of sources, from microphones and instruments to playback devices, making it suitable for live music, speech, and general sound reinforcement. Features such as a feedback eliminator and a ducking function – which automatically lowers the music playing on Channel 2 when a signal comes in from the mic connected to Channel 1 – make it especially useful for announcements, hosting, and event work, from informal performances to more structured settings such as presentations or conferences.

About Mackie

In 1988 Greg Mackie, already a successful co-founder of a pro audio company, founded Mackie Designs Inc. with the goal of producing affordable, high-quality mixers. The company's first official product, the LM-1602 line mixer, was initially produced within the four walls of his home. As sales figures were encouraging, its successor model CR-1604 soon followed - and in 1991 the company finally moved into its first proper production facility. The combination of reliable quality and low prices quickly brought the company enormous success, so that by 1995 Mackie had already sold 100,000 products. In 2003, the company was renamed LOUD Audio, LLC so that there is no longer any confusion between the Mackie brand and its former parent company of the same name.

Built for everyday use

To make transporting the road-ready Mackie Thump 212 as easy as possible, there is a dedicated soft-shell case on wheels in the form of the Mackie Rolling Bag Thump212/XT (sold separately). Upon arrival, if it's being used to provide stereo sound to a seated audience, the 212 can be set up vertically at the front of the stage. If the speaker is needed as a stage monitor for a band the next day, it can simply be turned towards the stage and placed safely on its side. In multi-purpose spaces, this flexibility can dramatically reduce setup time. For packed dancefloors or busy bars, mounting it on an optional stand is the best choice. The Mackie Thump 212's combination of power and portability also makes it a great fit for exhibitions, trade fairs, and conferences. Built to be tough enough for the road, it's more than ready for touring: It can even accompany international travellers, capable as it is of handling all voltage standards between 100 and 240V.

P
not great but decent for the job

It's OK. Loud enough to cover a relatively big area (hotel pool-restaurant). The quality of the sound is much better than cheap no-name speakers. The anti-feedback button does absolutely nothing. One day, one of the speakers had a bit distorted sound. I couldn't specify the reason because of the infinite variables that could contribute to this.
In general it is OK, but I need to check them out in the long term, it' very early at the moment.

Buena compra.
