Guter aber teurer Kompromiss

Der Softone Mute hat den großen Vorteil, sehr klein zusammenknautschbar zu sein, so passt er noch in die meisten Cases rein. Das schafft sonst kein Bucket Mute. Außerdem kann er als Übungsdämpfer und als Bucket Mute verwendet werden. Klingt erstmal gut, klappt aber nicht zu 100%. Als Übungsdämpfer ist er nicht sehr leise, als Bucket ist es etwas Glückssache, welchen Ton man bekommt, je nachdem, wie weit man ihn überzieht (was man auch wieder als Flexibilität schätzen kann). Rein optisch macht der Softone eher nichts her, was in der Bigband schon ein Argument sein kann, wenn man als einziger mit so einer Schlappmütze im Posaunensatz sitzt.
Also eher ein Kompromiss bedingt durch die verschiedenen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten und die Bauart. Und dafür angesichts der simplen Konstruktion recht teuer.

Mijn voorkeur voor bucket mute voor trombone is de Ira Nepus Softone. Ook al is de klank niet zo mooi als een H&B, het verschil is nu ook weer niet zo groot. Het gebruiksgemak geeft echter de doorslag voor Ira Nepus. Je neemt deze nagenoeg onverwoestbare demper heel makkelijk mee. In mijn demperkoffer doet hij ook nog dienst als materiaal tussen de andere dempers, zodat die niet tegen elkaar kunnen botsen. Aanbrengen en verwijderen gaat vliegensvlug en zonder schade aan je beker.
Ik vind het zelf niet zo mooi dat er een labeltje met de merknaam aan hangt.
Je kan hem ook nog gebruiken als oefendemper. In dat geval klem je hem over de hele bekerrand heen.

Für 85 € dämpft er mir zu wenig und verzehrt die Töne in der Höhe zu sehr.
