Not suitable for a mandolin
I got this to hang my F-5 mandolin or potentially a ukulele. Sadly, due to the foamed neck which should cradle the neck of the instrument, there wasn't enough room for the instrument to fall into the hanger, thereby activiating the arms to keep it held in.

Easy to install, holds the violin securely
Bought for a 5 string violin - snug but fits nicely. Handy arrow on the back to ensure you get it the correct way up!

Very good wall mount. Locking mechanism makes it safe. Pin for bow.
