Best SG version so far - Worth every penny!
Tetro Leon Guitar 21.10.2019
Own this guitar for some time now and honestly, I couldn't be any happier!

Very comfortable guitar, the body sits perfectly on your lap and the neck feels amazing!

Very easy to play and as for the tone, there's nothing similar to it! I don't think you will ever be able to find any negative points for this guitar.

Aesthetically, there's nothing better than Gibson's vintage original tuning pegs and the small pick guard - in combination with these horns.

If you own any other double humbucker guitars, it surely can not compare to them - If you do not own any humbucker guitar, you definitely need this one!

Comes with the hard case that every time you open it, the smell reminds you how amazing your guitar is!

Undoubtedly worth the extra money comparing to the standard SG model!

J
I got this and now I'm thinking about selling half of my collection to get more of these
Jackfisher 03.06.2026
I wanted an SG for a long time and when it finally arrived I knew what I was getting.

It's ALMOST perfect.

The good:
This guitar is a classic, you just want to play every Sabbath song right out of the box. Beautiful color, beautiful finish, there's no neck dive. The playability and sound are amazing. Upper fret access is amazing.
It's very light, easy on my back, not Strandberg light, but I think it's under 3kg.
The case quality is also flawless.

The slightly annoying (there's no bad):
First is the pickup covers needed polishing and the switch was slightly dirty. But that's the legendary Gibson "QC". Nothing that's a deal breaker, I just wish the QC team at Gibson would remind themselves that they are shipping a $2000 guitar.
If Thomann can ship me a HB for $300 with no QC issues, so can Gibson do the same for a guitar that costs $2000.

The second thing is the multi-tool that came in the case. It's nice to have, and it's metal and not plastic... but maybe Gibson should check out what Ibanez ships with their Prestige guitars. The tool has everything you need to maintain your guitar, but there's no stopper for the tool, so it doesn't lock, and I almost dented the headstock with it when I tried to open the truss rod cover and the tool flipped on itself. So one way to fix it is to tighten the screws on the sides, but then it becomes really hard to open.

I'm not done buying SG's. Despite the annoying multi-tool and some dirt on the guitar, this is one of the best guitars I've ever bought.

A
Amazing guitar. Much better than the regular Standard SG.
Alkain 23.06.2024
A friend of mine bought the Gibson SG Standard. I tried it and wasn't very impressed. Terrible neck dive, uninspiring sound (it has the same pickups as my Gibson LP Studio). Comes with gigbag instead of hardcase. The best thing about it is the very light weight.
I fancied having an SG because of some of my guitar heroes (especially Bill Janovitz from Buffalo Tom), so I decided to give this one a shot. Wow! The moment I opened the case I was in love. Completely different guitar to the regular standard version. Far superior, in my opinion.
- No neck dive at all: the guitar is perfectly balanced.
- Great sound. I have a Victory V40 Deluxe, and the guitar truly sings.
- So comfortable and easy to play! Much easier than my Les Pauls.
- Slightly heavier than the regular SG Standard: that's probably why it hasn't the neck dive problem. I don't mind the extra weight: it's still lighter than my Les Paul.
Very inspiring. Since I got it I have barely played my Gibson Les Paul Standard (my main guitar until now). I'm in love with this guitar.
For the small price difference, I totally recommend this one over the regular SG Standard model.

P
Gibson SG 61 Standard.. I love it!
PieDue 18.02.2025
I’ve own a lot of guitars over the years, and always wanted a Gibson SG. So a few months ago started selling a few guitar with the plan of getting one secondhand, but following the realisation that there are many replicas out there I was reluctant to commit to anything with the uncertainty of what I would be getting, and in turn decided to go with Thomann (which I’ve used for many years.. bought my first electric guitar from them almost 20 years ago.. Gibson Les Paul Melody maker.. and the customer service has only continued to get better!)

Shipping was quick, service excellent along with competitive pricing…

Upon receiving my 61 standard, I was in love.. this is such an awesome guitar! (Price of Gibsons is totally crazy… but I really love my guitar! And would certainly recommend!)
