Ich gehöre zu den Gitarristen, die zumindest den Steg-Humbucker ihrer Gitarren austauschen, um sie zu individualisieren. Früher waren es High-Output Pickups, heute sind es Boutique PAF-Repliken.
Das hatte ich auch bei meiner R8 gemacht; ein angesagter Pickup eines angesagten Herstellers, dessen Namen ich hier nicht nenne.
Nach einer gewissen Zeit merkte ich, dass ich die Gitarre nicht mehr gerne spielte, weil mir der verstärkte Sound nicht mehr gefiel. Allerdings klang der - von mir oft vernachlässigte - Serien-Hals-Pickup ziemlich gut! Ich habe dann den Serien-Steg-Pickup, eben den Gibson Custombucker, wieder eingebaut und schlagartig war der gute Sound wieder da! Der Pickup passt einfach perfekt in die Les Paul. Ich habe dann sofort den Custombucker Plus für meine andere R8, die noch keine Custombucker-Bestückung hatte, bestellt und muss sagen, dass er genau das macht, was man von einem absoluten Premium PAF Pickup erwartet. Toll!
