The feel and sound of a premium grand piano

With the DP 300 Black digital piano, GEWA Music has placed great value on excellent sound. None other than the Steinway grand piano D-274 - to be found in the most renowned concert halls in the world - provided the basis for the piano samples. The number of polyphonic voices is comparatively high for a model found in the middle price segment. The weighted keys of the matt black piano have a hammer mechanism. On the GrandTouch keyboard, you can feel a lighter weighting on higher notes and a heavier weighting on lower notes – the same effect you have when playing a grand piano. In addition, the digital piano is equipped with split and layer functions, an internal recording facility, integrated loudspeakers, and a USB-to-host port to connect a computer.

Everything clearly laid out

The GEWA DP 300 Black has a very clear design. To the left of the keyboard, you will find a clear control panel. Most of the connections are on the rear side of the console: A 3.5mm line-in socket, a 6.3mm jack socket for an external sustain pedal, two jack sockets for the line out, a MIDI in/out, a USB-B connection for a computer, and the socket for the included power cable. The digital piano is switched on at the bottom and up to two pairs of headphones and the pedal cable can be connected there too. The full-range stereo speakers are also integrated into the underside of the piano. The console is placed on the supplied base, which has three pedals. The piano weighs 43.5kg and measures 135x42.9x96.8cm.

Easy handling

The GEWA DP 300G Black is a digital piano for your living room or rehearsal room. It is suitable for musicians who love the sound of the Steinway grand piano D-274 and at the same time want to enjoy some of the advantages of digital pianos. The model is polyphonic with 256 voices. A library offers 15 high-resolution sounds. With six touch sensitivity settings, the instrument adapts to the player. In addition, the user calibration tool even offers pianists individual tuning. The keyboard can be split, and the layer function enables sound combinations. Effects can be activated in two independent blocks. What is more, the model is also suitable for beginners. The clear control panel consists of just four cursor keys beneath a small display and six keys beneath the volume control.

About GEWA Music

GEWA Music is a German firm based in Saxony. It specialises in the development and manufacture of musical instruments and their accessories of almost all categories: Stringed instruments, guitars, wind instruments, drums, and percussion as well as digital keyboard instruments and their sound generation systems. The company manufactures partly for its own brand name and partly in close cooperation with other major industry brands such as DW Drums, Gibraltar, Gretsch, Hannabach, Ovation, Latin Percussion, Thomastik, Remo, Paiste, etc. The product line ranges from instruments for beginners to instruments for top-ranking musicians and other professional users. The multifaceted nature of the company is aptly summed up by GEWA Music’s motto: "We engineer music".

Grand piano sound at all times

Anyone who wants the exquisite sound of a grand piano but has little space in their own living room can set up the GEWA DP 300 Black as a decorative piece of furniture. Fortunately, it takes up very little space. Simply set your own favourite sound and start playing. The volume can be adjusted with the volume control. And when things need to stay quiet, you can just use your headphones. These are connected to one of the two 6.3mm jack sockets beneath the console. The low position is convenient because the headphone cable is routed down the pianist's back and into the socket, assuring that you can move your arm freely. By the way, as long as one headphone is connected, the speakers are deactivated in a neighbour-friendly manner.

In the spotlight: The user calibration tool

In addition to the sound, the touch behaviour of a piano is a decisive criterion for how familiar a keyboard appears to a pianist. Musicians, once used to an instrument, often look for comparable dynamics. The GEWA DP 300 Black is equipped with a user calibration tool. Starting from the factory setting, you can select an individual calibration value for each key that best suits your own playing behaviour. The user calibration created in this way is saved on the piano and subsequently loaded automatically every time you turn it on. The user calibration can be changed at any time, or the factory settings can be recalled.

S
Excellente sonorité, disponible et produit européen
Sinar 05.12.2021
