A boost in the project studio
The USB audio interface provides a flexible solution for recording up to four microphone sources, eight line-level signals and electric guitars or basses. Four analogue outputs and dual headphone amplifiers allow for independent monitor mixes, while ADAT connectivity expands the available channel count when additional inputs are required. MIDI and S/PDIF interfaces further extend the range of connection options, with four high-quality preamps featuring pair-switchable phantom power and premium converters supporting sample rates of up to 192kHz for detailed, accurate audio capture. Fast, consistent drivers ensure reliable operation across Windows, macOS and iOS, with a three-year manufacturer's warranty and 24-hour support providing additional reassurance.
Premium converters and preamps
The Clarett+ 4Pre provides audio and MIDI input and output for Windows and macOS systems, combining high-quality A/D and D/A converters with low-distortion microphone and line preamps to deliver detailed, dynamic sound for both recording and playback. Each input features a switchable analogue Air circuit that changes the input impedance to 2.2 kiloohms and applies two filters to gently boost the high frequencies by around 4dB, recreating the character of the classic Focusrite ISA 110 preamp. Two channels also include switchable JFET circuitry, allowing electric guitars and basses to be connected directly while preserving the natural feel and response of the instrument. The result is a versatile interface that adapts easily to a wide range of recording applications.
Top-of-the-range features for the project studio
With the Clarett+ 4Pre, Focusrite provides project studios with a compact interface that offers more than a basic two-channel setup. Up to four microphones can be connected simultaneously, making it suitable for recording multiple vocalists, acoustic instruments and other sources, while line-level equipment can also be integrated into the workflow. The four preamps feature dedicated gain controls with built-in level meters for clear monitoring of input signals. Through the ADAT input, the system can be expanded by a further eight channels at sample rates of up to 48kHz, for example in combination with the Focusrite Scarlett OctoPre Dynamic. The included Hitmaker Expansion, along with Ableton Live Lite and a three-month licence for Pro Tools Intro+, provides a practical collection of tools for recording and production.
About Focusrite
Founded in 1985 by Rupert Neve, Focusrite quickly made a name for itself with high-quality analogue consoles. Today, the company markets audio interfaces, mic preamps, consoles, analogue EQs, and channel strips as well as hardware and software for digital audio processing. The company is based in High Wycombe, England, and has won numerous industry awards. In addition to the Focusrite Pro line, the company also has subsidiaries that include Adam Audio, Novation, and iOS app creator Ampify Music.
Ready for recording
The Clarett+ 4Pre offers the flexibility to record a wide range of instruments, with ADAT expansion allowing up to 16 channels to be captured simultaneously. Alongside its role in the project studio, the interface can also handle larger recording setups in rehearsal spaces when combined with the appropriate accessories. Its eight analogue inputs make it convenient for keeping synthesizers, modellers and playback devices permanently connected, ready for use whenever required. The high-quality microphone preamps deliver detailed, clean recordings without the need for additional external equipment in many situations, while two high-impedance JFET instrument inputs provide an ideal direct connection for electric guitars and basses. Combined with the balanced line inputs and premium converters, the Clarett+ 4Pre delivers a clear, dynamic sound with impressive detail.
