M
ESP Original Snapper 7R CG: A Classy Surprise
Mayersteen 12.05.2026
This guitar is super cool, sounds great, and the quality is top-notch, exactly what you would expect from a handmade ESP made in Japan.

To be honest, I was never really into the Snapper models before. That changed the moment I unboxed this one in the CG finish. I was instantly in love with it.

The neck feels fantastic in the hand. I have larger hands, so the 22 frets combined with the 25.5 inch scale length give me a bit more room to move around, which I really appreciate. The pickups and the overall voicing of the guitar are exactly what I was hoping for. I had some doubts about the tremolo at first, but those quickly disappeared. It works great and I have had no issues with it so far.

Maybe the strongest thing I can say about this guitar is that I liked it so much, I went ahead and ordered the black version too. I think that says more than any long review could. It simply works for me.

If you are open to trying something a little different and want to step away from the more contemporary looking models in the ESP lineup, give the Snapper a chance. It is a classy guitar that deserves more attention than it usually gets.

And... yes! It can absolutely do Metal! :-)
