Epiphone 1960 Les Paul Special DC TVY

After purchasing the IGC 1962 ES-335 reissue and being absolutely blown way by the quality and sound (those custombuckers!), I was really looking forward to this. What a massive letdown. The guitar that I received looked like an unripe banana, yellow on the body, fading to a nasty, pukey, green-grey with brown stains in it on the neck and the back of the headstock. How this passed Epiphones quality control is a mystery. On top of that, it wasn’t anywhere near set up, strings slacking on the fretboard, intonation way off. The pickup switch felt wonky (like it didn’t really want to be in bridge position) and was clearly welded together from two pieces of plastic with a visible, hard edge that you could easily feel with your fingers. If Temu made pickup switches, this would be it. The whole thing played like a piece of plastic, just not ok in this price range. But I will give you this, Epiphone: the Gibson Pickups sound great. Now you just have to make a proper guitar to put them on.
