Very close to the real thing

It would be easy to say that this pedal has amazing sound and convenience 'for the price', but that is taking the focus from how good it really is and that would be doing it a disservice.

I'm running this through a power amp (Blackstar Amped 1) and into a 1x12 cab and it definitely has that Engl sound. Put it behind a curtain and you'd be hard pressed to say it wasn't a tube head- it has that nice spongey feel to it that caught me by surprise for a fully solid state unit.

It's a new product so lots to explore still, but the build quality is great as you'd expect from Engl and the options on this small box are fantastic. Noise gate and mid boost are extremely valuable features, as are the switching options. Not to mention the independent eq for each channel which even the real amp doesn't offer...

I've not yet tried the IR's into an interface but have heard only good things there, the fact that you can load your own means you're gonna have tonnes of flexibility either way, so pretty sure it will work great in that way too.

Would like to give it <5 stars in one category at least, just so the review doesnt come across as gushing, but i cant really fault it. Is this exactly like an Engl tube head? Not 100%... but close enough! Highly recommended.

Great pre-amp pedal. Love it. As soon as I plugged it into the fx loop of my Randall Diavlo 1 and 2x12 cab, it was love at first chug. The noise gate is fantastic and the boost is great for solos. Playing through my DAW, I spent some hours to find the best IR for my sound (death metal) but I did it eventually. And the pre-amp it goes pretty good with my Soul Food pedal.

Lasted 3 months...

and then it stopped working. It turns on but the buttons are all white and the knobs are unresponsive. Let's see if they will repair it or exchange it. I might change my rating after that.
Not the reliability I was expecting from Engl.

Also it would have been great to use it with a MIDI controller, since the footswitches are too close together to use live or to add effects when changing the presets.

The sounds are great, no complaints about that. Just replace the stock IRs because they are terrible.

Sounds exactly like my Fireball 100

Bought this to have a compact fireball sound in my pedalboard and it didn't disappoint.
I can plug my pedalboard to the return of any amp in the venue and disable the IR on the pedal, adjust the EQ to play well with whatever cab available and it rips!
I use my own IR when I connect to FOH. I loaded the pedal with the Mesa Boogie OS 412 IR Cab then plug my pedalboard to the Walrus Audio Canvas DI to connect to FOH on stereo.
Amazing versatile pedal!
