DW PDP 12"x06" Black Wax Snare

I bought this snare as an extra but it became the main snare drum for my set. It came with a common single-ply head wich I had in mind that it sould be changed. Wrong! Keep it light and tight and it will give you a great, clean, sensitive and poping sound. You may need half of a moon gel to remove any bothering overtones but it's up to you.
Keep it simple and you 'll be suprised. By the way, the throw-off mechanism is the best out there. Super affordable, great quality and suprisingly good sound.

Nice piccolo snare like Simon Phillips uses, but now you won't break your bank account ;)..Actually I use this snare in two ways, as a main snare for certain songs then switching over to a timbale like drum for percussion purposes...yes, I know not really a genuine timbale sound, but crank it up and it will sound very close!!

all in all give it a try.... you won't be dissapointed!

Purpose of this snare drum is being the second on my setup. But man; this is my main snare now. Build quality amazing, looking perfect with "black wax" finish. And the mag throw-off is perfect. Such a perfect quality product with amazing price.

Pros:
- amazing tone for 12" (even medium tuning)
- gorgeous looking plus matching almost every color or finish
- DW mag throw-off
- stock heads are very durable
- amazingly sensitive

Cons:
- don't liked the snares, they feel cheap
- not comfortable with low tuning
