Easy to fit, works well

Once I figured 8 voices was not enough, I've ordered this expansion board. It came with instructions that were easy to follow. No soldering needed, just open the synth, fit some standoffs, then push the board in place, close the synth, turn it on -- 16 voice.

Makes a difference

Definitely makes a difference when having the Prophet Rev 2 with 16 voices, instead of 8. Splits, duos sound much better and complete. Sound in general is fuller, more complex chords can then be played. Recommend this upgrade.

Worthwhile upgrade

I initially opted for the 8 voice Rev 2, but ran into note stealing. Although 8 voices is definitely usable, using a "stacked" patch with two layers halves the number of voices available per layer reducing each to 4 voices without the upgrade.

The upgrade immediately allows more flexibility using stacked/split options, making the instrument much more satisfying. However, if you do not use the stacked/split feature often the 8 voice model is likely sufficient.

The installation is very straightforward and fortunately does not require strong DIY skills! I did have to make a couple of attempts, so worth checking that all voices are working as expected before putting the case back on the instrument.
